Daria Denisenko is an artist whose work exists primarily in hand-cut paper sculptures. She is also a successful model whose career began with a Victoria Beckham debut in New York, followed by a European Celine Exclusive under Phoebe Philo. She continued shooting multiple campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood, The Row and has had international press features in Vogue, Dazed, Harpers Bazaar and more.
Entirely self taught, Daria has spent nearly a decade developing a distinctive process that challenges conventional boundaries between two and three dimensional representation. Beginning with photographs, she painstakingly translates each image into intricately hand-cut paper compositions that are subsequently painted, constructed, and assembled into sculptural works. A process that takes months to complete. Her pieces range from intimate wall-mounted pieces and freestanding installations to immersive architectural environments.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Ely Center of Contemporary Art, CICA Museum, Da Vinci Art Alliance, Foley Gallery and more. She is also the recipient of the Plum Lime Residency Award and has been awarded residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts.
